Training and Development Track

NERA provides you with the necessary tools to succeed with training customized for your particular role and career path.

Core Training

An orientation program is held for our new hires every year. The orientation program is designed to introduce NERA and its lines of business and practice areas, to explain its culture and market position, and to provide an opportunity for everyone to meet peers and senior staff from different offices and practice areas.

Orientation is followed by Practice Area training, which aims to provide staff with hands-on experience in conducting research, reviewing documents, performing calculations and regression analyses, creating NERA-style tables and memos, and reporting their findings. After about six months at NERA, we offer quality management training to reinforce skills learned at orientation, including table and graph design, spreadsheet building, macros, checking, electronic and document backup, and litigation and discovery.

Skill-Building

Training for targeted skills is offered on a continual basis, covering topics such as project management, business writing, communications, and presentation skills. Our in-house experts deliver classes in econometrics and statistical and technical software programs such as Excel, Stata, SAS, PowerPoint, and VBA.

We offer e-learning in partnership with Skillsoft, a premier e-learning provider, which has online courses, books, job aids, and skill briefs to enhance, reinforce, and broaden your skill set. The customized library includes: courses in business skills, desktop applications, and credentialing courses; Business Pro Books with downloadable Chapters to Go; and Well Being Essentials Books. You can access these online resources at any time in or out of the office.

NERA encourages its employees to participate in work-related training, academic courses, and certification programs through its tuition program. Courses eligible for reimbursement are continuing education courses, degree programs, and certificate programs (such as the CFA) that are in a business-related field and are directly related to NERA’s work and objectives.

On-Going Development

We also offer a monthly presentation series, where senior and junior consultants give presentations to global staff on a variety of topics ranging from interesting case studies to economic strategies.
