The NERA environment in ten words or less:
Intelligent people in a collaborative environment.

On my career path:
After completing my PhD, I joined NERA as a Consultant. I was promoted first to Senior Consultant and then to Vice President.

On the work we do:
Let’s say two companies want to merge. If they are big enough, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Department of Justice (DOJ) have an opportunity to review the potential transaction to assess whether it may be anti-competitive, that is, result in the incentive and/or ability to raise prices, lower output, reduce innovation, or otherwise adversely affect consumers post-transaction. That’s where we come in. We consider, from an economic perspective, whether and how the transaction might adversely affect consumers.

On being a mentor:
It is incredibly rewarding to develop meaningful and lasting relationships with colleagues, and to help them grow personally and professionally. When I joined NERA, people took an interest in me, gave me responsibility, offered challenging assignments, and provided support and guidance along the way. Now, I am able to provide that for others.

What I admire about my colleagues:
I have made some wonderful friends at NERA. I enjoy spending time with them and I admire how they quickly get to the heart of a challenging theoretical or empirical question.

On the advice I’d give to a prospective colleague:
NERA is a company filled with bright, knowledgeable people who can offer challenging assignments and the opportunity for you to expand your skill set.
