National Gypsum
Economic Advice in Litigation
The Situation
In October 1990, National Gypsum filed for bankruptcy as the result of its asbestos liabilities.
NERA's Role
NERA estimated future asbestos personal injury claims that would be made against the National Gypsum Trust and testified to such claims in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. This claims forecast included a determination of the likely indemnity and defense costs, as well as a valuation of claims were a class action successfully certified.
The Result
The Court adopted NERA's findings in a written decision.
