During 1992 and 1993 the Northern Ireland electricity supply industry was radically restructured and privatised as a single company -- Northern Ireland Electricity plc (NIE). This working paper describes the new industry structure; the system of price controls relating to NIE's primary businesses; the possible development of these price controls and the relationship with price control in England and Wales.
