NERA at 40: Making Markets Work Better

1 April 2001
Capabilities and Services

NERA's story began in 1961 when the newly formed 17-member firm started working on natural gas field price matters. Those initial assignments led to work in the U.S. utilities industry involving state regulatory commissions and antitrust work in a range of industries.

Today NERA's 400-member staff includes some 300 consulting economists, the vast majority of whom hold doctorate degrees in economics or related disciplines. In addition to nine U.S. locations, our firm has offices in Brussels, London, Madrid, and Sydney and handles assignments around the world. Our economic consulting services are concentrated in two primary areas of focus: Advisory Services and Law & Economics.

As markets throughout the world continue to evolve, NERA remains heavily involved in areas of regulation, privatization and public policy. We also maintain our traditional involvement in litigation and various other specialties.

This article appeared in the March/April edition of "M" magazine, produced by our parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies.
