The Role of Quantitative Analysis in Competition Assessments

This report by NERA Director Greg Houston was presented at the Law Council of Australia's conference on "Competition Law for Judges of the Federal Court of Australia" in Sydney, Australia on 18 March 2005.
Mr. Houston examines the increasing prevalence of quantitative analysis in global antitrust and competition proceedings and proposes a framework for identifying when and how quantitative analysis may be helpful in competition assessments. The report also includes discussion of the limitations of quantitative analysis and provides in-depth illustrations of several practical applications.
