US House of Representatives Testimony Concerning the Challenges Faced by Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in the Transportation Sector

26 March 2009
By Dr. Jon Wainwright

On 26 March 2009, the US House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure held a hearing concerning "Challenges Faced by Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in the Transportation Sector," chaired by Representative James L. Oberstar (Minn). NERA Vice President Dr. Jon Wainwright, an expert on race and sex discrimination and its impact on business enterprise and entrepreneurship in the US, was invited to testify on the current state of DBEs in the transportation sector, evidence of disparate impact in business enterprise activity from recent NERA studies in the transportation sector, and recent litigation developments impacting the federal DBE Program. This was Dr. Wainwright's fourth invited appearance before Congress.
