Hosted By: the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP)

The Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) held its "Risk-Based Financial and Capital Market Regulation Master Class" in New York City on 16-17 May 2012. The two-day event provided  an intensive and detailed look at the evolution of global financial market regulation from a US perspective, focusing on how Dodd-Frank, Basel III, and EU directives impact the market infrastructure and regulatory reporting requirements across the financial services sector. On the second day of the class, NERA Vice President Dr. Ronald Miller presented a session entitled "Regulatory Reforms to Prevent Bank Bailouts." The session addressed the economic framework behind global regulatory reforms, lessons learned from the financial crisis, Financial Stability Board policy standards for addressing too-big-to-fail and too-interconnected-to-fail banks, and  Basel III capital standards and competitiveness effects.
