Brighton, United Kingdom
30 May 2012- 02 June 2012
Hosted By: the Center for Research in Regulated Industries (CRRI) at Rutgers University

Postal experts convened at this conference -- hosted by the Center for Research in Regulated Industries (CRRI) at Rutgers University in Brighton on 30 May - 2 June 2012 -- to discuss issues of regulation, strategy, competition, universal service, cost and demand analysis, innovation, and marketing. As part of the conference, NERA Associate Director Stuart Holder chaired a session on governance, which included papers from the US and UK on the likely impact of the corporatization or privatization of postal operators, and on the UK Postal Services Act. In addition, Consultant Helen Smith participated as a discussant during a session on the Universal Service Obligation network. This session included papers from France, Denmark, and the US that considered the different ways postal operators and postal retail networks could adapt in the face of falling demand and increasing competition from electronic media.
