The 2nd Annual Americas Spectrum Management Conference
Washington, DC
23 October 2012- 24 October 2012
Hosted By: Forum Global in cooperation with knowledge partner NERA Economic Consulting
With over 200 delegates in 2011, The Americas Spectrum Management Conference is the leading meeting place of the year for key senior stakeholders and policymakers across the region, providing an interactive platform for discussion on the most pertinent issues and developments affecting spectrum management policies. Having assisted in launching this event in 2011, NERA was proud to again serve as the official knowledge partner in 2012. This year's conference was held in Washington, DC on 23-24 October. On Day 1, NERA Vice President Dr. Christian Dippon chaired a session entitled "Consolidation, Competition, and Spectrum Licensing: The Linkage Between Spectrum Allocation and Consolidation in the Mobile Sector." On Day 2, Senior Vice President Dr. Chantale LaCasse moderated sessions on spectrum auctions and the implementation of the FCC Incentive Auction. Dr. LaCasse also presented a NERA paper on global trends in spectrum auctions and implications for the Americas.
With contributions from all of the main stakeholders at both policy and industry levels from the US, Canada, and Latin America, the conference offered the chance to look at best practices in areas such as increasing efficiency of spectrum bandplans, the linkage between spectrum allocation and competition issues in the mobile sector, Incentive Auctions, increasing access to broadband services, and Dynamic and Shared Spectrum Access. Participants also examined the possible scope and benefits of deepening coordination of spectrum policy across the Americas region, and -- with speakers from the EU and Asia -- the debate extended to a global level.
