Drug and Medical Device Litigation

New York, New York
27 March 2007- 28 March 2007
Hosted By: IQPC

Drug and medical device companies are continuously facing the threat of litigation, mass tort proceedings, and a negative public image. To address these and other issues, IQPC hosted a conference in New York City on 27-28 March 2007. The conference featured three NERA experts: Dr. Faten Sabry, Paul Hinton, and Dr. Ron Miller. Dr. Sabry participated on a panel entitled "Structuring and Administering Mass Torts Settlements." Her presentation included analysis of forecasting future claims for established defendants and for defendants with little or no litigation history. She also discussed the impact of causation and publicity on increasing claim flows. Mr. Hinton delivered a presentation on "Evidence in the Courtroom -- Analysis of Product Liability Risks in Mass Tort Cases." His talk covered drug safety signal detection using adverse event reports and techniques of risk assessment using large population based data sources. Finally, Dr. Miller presented "Managing a Crisis: What to Do When it All Goes Wrong," which concentrated on what can be learned from stock market responses to bad news about litigation.
