NERA Vice President Dr. Sharon Brown-Hruska participated in a conference, held in New York City on 1 May 2008, that considered the current system of financial regulation and recent proposals for its reform. Attendees examined the structure and performance of the US system of supervision and regulation of financial institutions and financial services, and assessed whether the US structure is well designed to foster growth and competitiveness. In her panels, Dr. Brown-Hruska discussed the purposes of regulation, the regulation of funds, and the separation of banking, securities, futures, and commerce.
