Securities Litigation and Damages Seminar

Tokyo, Japan
30 September 2008
Hosted By: NERA Economic Consulting

With the US subprime crisis leading to a growing wave of litigation and class action lawsuits, determining the best approach to calculating damages has become increasingly important. With this in mind, NERA hosted a seminar in Tokyo on 30 October 2008 that addressed the economics of securities litigation and damages calculation in the US and Japan. NERA Senior Vice President Nobuo Mori, based in our Tokyo office, delivered opening remarks. He was followed by a presentation from Ken Kiyohara, a partner at Jones Day, who discussed current and expected trends in Japanese securities litigation in light of the recently revised Securities and Exchange Law. NERA Vice President Makoto Ikeya, also based in Tokyo, then discussed various approaches to calculating damages. Finally, Dr. Andrew Carron, President of NERA, closed the seminar with a presentation on the future of subprime litigation.
