The Inaugural Australian Economic Forum
Sydney, Australia
19 August 2009- 20 August 2009
Hosted By: the Economic Society of Australia
NERA Director Adrian Kemp chaired a session on "Reforming Water Provision" at this forum in Sydney on 19-20 August 2009. Mr. Kemp's session focused on reforms occurring in the urban and rural water sectors in Australia, which have been designed to improve the incentives for private competition in the provision of water services. These reforms are being implemented to improve the scope for the water industry to respond to the challenge of satisfying growing water demand while traditional sources of water decline due to drought.
Over 45 of Australia's leading economic and business minds were present at this event. The program, which was based around the COAG agenda, included keynote addresses on better public services, climate change and emissions trading, reforming infrastructure, housing affordability, water security, and energy supply.
