The Fidelity and Surety Law Committee of the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section hosted this program in Philadelphia on 29-30 October 2009 to examine the challenges encountered in unraveling highly complex financial frauds. NERA Senior Vice President Jeffrey Baliban participated in a session on calculating damages along with Christopher Money of Hagen Streiff Newton & Oshiro. The session examined damage issues that arise when dealing with earnings management, investments and sophisticated accounting, and finance techniques employed to hedge risk. Discussions included calculating damages, measuring the benefits the insured may have received as a result of the corruption, and other relevant damage claim dilemmas.
