NERA Economic Consulting Congratulates Karl McDermott on His New Academic Position

17 April 2008/New York -- NERA Economic Consulting wishes to congratulate Dr. Karl McDermott on his appointment as Ameren Distinguished Professor of Business and Government at the University of Illinois at Springfield.

Dr. McDermott is recognized as a leading expert in public utility regulation. He has advised numerous US utilities on issues regarding restructuring, and has assisted a number of European countries in their electricity privatization and restructuring efforts. He served as Commissioner on the Illinois Commerce Commission during the negotiation of the Illinois restructuring law, and has lectured and published extensively on regulatory reform and restructuring.
Dr. McDermott holds a PhD in economics from the University of Illinois, an MA in public utility economics from the University of Wyoming, and a BA in economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
