Experience
Dr. Kaufman is a Consultant in NERA's Environment Group, based in Boston. His work primarily focuses on the economics of environmental policies related to climate change, air quality, and water quality. At NERA, Dr. Kaufman conducts economic and environmental impact analyses for multinational energy corporations.
Dr. Kaufman received his BS in economics, cum laude, from Duke University, and his PhD and MS in economics, with a concentration on energy and environmental economics, from the University of Texas at Austin, where his dissertation examined optimal policy responses to climate change. Dr. Kaufman has written and presented on climate change economics in a number of forums. His most recent article, "The Bias of Integrated Assessment Models that Ignore Climate Catastrophes," was published in Climatic Change.
