Experience

Dr. Kaneko specializes in antitrust, intellectual property, and commercial litigation. His areas of expertise include industrial organization, applied microeconomics, econometrics, economic valuation, and survey research. In the antitrust area, he has researched and analyzed the impact of proposed mergers as well as the effect of alleged abuse of superior bargaining position in such industries as steel, beverages, petrochemicals, and retailing. He has researched and authored reports and articles, and presented on the economics of antitrust policy and merger regulation.

Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Kaneko was a post-doctoral associate at the University of Georgia, where he researched the determination of commodity prices based on market structure and product quality, the effect of advertising on demand, and the effect of health characteristics of food on consumer purchases. His doctoral research involved conducting telephone and mail surveys as well as economic experiments.
