Mr. Ikeya is a Vice President in NERA's Tokyo office, where he works on securities and commercial litigation support, transfer pricing, and intellectual property engagements. He has prepared expert reports in securities and finance, intellectual property, and tax litigations in Japanese courts. He has also worked on transfer pricing audits, complex commercial disputes, product liability valuation, intellectual property valuation, and regulatory matters.
In a recent landmark securities litigation involving damage claims under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, Mr. Ikeya conducted an event study analysis to quantify the impact of company-specific and general market events on stock prices. His other experiences include providing an analysis for the fair valuation of shares for squeezed-out shareholders in M&A cases in compliance with Japanese Company Act, and valuing damage claims for a Japanese multinational facing a dispute against a US distribution company regarding the contract between them that defined conditions of supplying products from the Japanese company.
In the area of intellectual property, Mr. Ikeya frequently advises on transfer pricing audits and develops pricing analyses on intragroup transactions for tangible and intangible properties. In intellectual property litigation, he has worked on major cases, including one where a researcher claimed partial ownership for a patent against his former employer, a semiconductor manufacturing corporation, basing his claim on Article 35.3 of the Japanese Patent Law.
Mr. Ikeya holds a Master of International Affairs, with a concentration in international finance and business, from Columbia University, and BA in economics from Sophia University, Japan.
