Experience
Ms. Alonso studied economics at the University Complutense of Madrid with a concentration in political economics. At NERA, Ms. Alonso leads the development of the firm's transfer pricing practice in Spain, advising multinationals on transfer pricing strategies, documentation, and defense.
Prior to joining NERA, Ms. Alonso worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as Deloitte, where she led the firm's transfer pricing practice for Spain from 2002 to 2004. In addition, she also served as Director of the tax department of MERCO. She has advised multinationals on international taxes as well as Spanish companies on domestic taxes. She also has supported national and multinational companies in tax inspections and defended them in tax court procedures. Her experience in the field of transfer pricing spans a period of over ten years, dating back to 1996.
Ms. Alonso has particular expertise in helping clients analyze and document their cross-border, intercompany transactions in accordance with the OECD guidelines and Spanish tax regulations; analyzing transfer pricing strategies and planning issues; structuring Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs); and advising on and negotiating bilateral agreements. She specializes in the pharmaceutical, High Tech, and telecommunications industries.
Ms. Alonso is a frequent speaker at conferences organized by prestigious Spanish institutions and organizations such as ISTP, IIR, and IFAES. She has taught transfer pricing courses at Instituto de Empresa (IIEE), a Spanish business school. In addition, she is a member of the Madrid Economic Association, and is fluent in Spanish and English.
