Experience
Dr. Bruegger is a Senior Consultant in NERA's Securities and Finance Practice. She has worked on litigation related to the credit market and financial crisis, on litigation involving various types of credit derivatives and structured products, on litigation involving the hedge fund industry, and on litigation related to market surveillance on national exchanges, as well as litigation involving refinancing failures. Dr. Bruegger has also worked and published on various securities class actions involving series of financial misstatements. She has further contributed to litigations involving analysis of stock price movements, computation of damages, business valuations, and analysis of market efficiency in context of class certifications.
Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Bruegger was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the UCLA Department of Mathematics and a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Economics at UCLA. She has presented her academic research at international conferences and her work has been published in academic journals such as The Journal of Public Economics, The European Journal of Political Economy, and The Journal of Corporation Law.
Dr. Bruegger received her doctorate in economics from the University of Bern, Switzerland, where she also taught undergraduate-level courses in Microeconomics and Applied Microeconomics. In her dissertation, Dr. Bruegger analyzed the dynamics of corruption and the spread of illegal strategies by applying evolutionary game theory models and simulation techniques. In her subsequent research, she studied the learning dynamics of voters in the political process and developed financing strategies for public goods.
