Ms. Velikova is a Consultant in NERA's Securities and Finance Practice. She has consulted on and managed numerous securities class action cases involving accounting fraud allegations, bid rigging allegations, and public offerings and acquisitions. She has analyzed the impact of alleged accounting fraud on stock and bond prices, assessed materiality, modeled inflation, and estimated aggregate damages in securities class action lawsuits. In addition, she has calculated damages resulting from a breach of contract. Ms. Velikova has also assessed market efficiency and loss causation, and calculated loss avoided by insider trading. She has conducted predicted settlement analysis for pending securities class action lawsuits, and refined estimates based on various theories of liability.
Ms. Velikova has acquired knowledge of industries including insurance and reinsurance, pharmaceuticals, beverages, wholesale/retail hardware, retail, aircrafts, container shipping, and broadband networking.
She is responsible for designing, carrying out, and overseeing the Securities and Finance Practice's training program for new hires. The training program covers a variety of statistical and modeling techniques.
Ms. Velikova holds an MBA degree from Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, and BA degrees in economics and Spanish from St. Lawrence University. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Bulgarian.
