Mr. Evans is an expert in global commodity and financial derivatives markets, asset/contract valuation, trading practices in physical, financial, and hybrid instruments, risk management practices, and hedging techniques in financial markets. With six years of experience at derivatives trading businesses, and eight years of strategy, valuation, regulatory, and risk advisory work for major commercials, marketers, hedge funds, and global financial institutions, Mr. Evans offers his clients advice based on deep and diverse experience in derivatives markets and financial risk management.

Prior to rejoining NERA in 2009, Mr. Evans was a Director at Barclays Capital ("Barcap"), where he was Head of US Commodities Valuations and New Business. In this role, Mr. Evans led Barcap's valuations team, which was responsible for valuation model reviews, valuation controls, valuations testing, and business/transaction valuation support. He also was responsible for overseeing the controlled launch of trading in new commodity markets -- with specific focus on oil and refined products, electricity, natural gas, agriculture, softs, metals, emissions, hybrids, and complex assets -- and regularly conducted asset pricing, risk, valuation, and control analyses in commodities markets. Earlier in his career Mr. Evans spent several years as an inter-dealer derivatives broker and a risk management analyst.

In his career at NERA, Mr. Evans has aided clients in litigation support across the commodities sector by valuing physical and financial assets and portfolios, analyzing hedging strategies, performing market risk analysis, advising on risk management practices, and assisting with acute commercial and regulatory issues. Mr. Evans has provided litigation support in many high-profile commodity cases and testified as an expert in commodities and derivatives markets. He has calculated damages in a variety of commodities and derivatives disputes.

He has served as an expert for over a dozen major market manipulation inquiries, regulatory enforcement actions, and trading investigations (FERC, CFTC, DOJ, FSA, FTC, and Civil) across commodities, securities, and interest rate derivatives markets. He has made presentations, prepared independent expert reports, and submitted testimony to regulators based on his independent review of trading activity and market data conducted during an investigation.  He has directed several risk management advisory engagements and is well-versed in contemporary risk management policies, procedures, and risk control structures.
