The Italian Electricity Market will be active after January 2003 following the approval of a decree of the Minister of Industry on the rules of the Market and the volatility of electricity prices. NERA and AIEE hosted a conference discussing the opening of the Italian Electricity Market on 3 October 2002 in Rome.
NERA Director Graham Shuttleworth gave a speech titled, "Wholesale Electricity Markets: Lessons From the International Experience," and Professor Andrea Bollino, advisor on electricity to the Minister of Industry, chaired a round table on the advantages and disadvantages which might arise for industrial customers. Francesco Lo Passo, NERA Director and Head of our Rome office, delivered the introductory remarks.
