This conference, held in San Francisco on 14-16 September 2009, featured speakers and attendees from companies such as ExxonMobil, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Lyondell Basell Industries, Firemans Insurance Company, Travelers, Nationwide, and Chevron. On the third day of the event, Lucy P. Allen, NERA Senior Vice President and Mass Torts & Product Liability Practice Chair, participated in the session on "Asbestos Bankruptcy: New Filings, Confirmations & Dismissals." This session provided an overview of the current Chapter 11 asbestos bankruptcy landscape, and addressed why these companies are still in bankruptcy, the new filers and how they are doing, and the state of the automotive industry.
