On 3 May 2011 in Washington, DC, NERA Vice President Dr. Sharon Brown-Hruska participated in a joint CFTC-SEC staff roundtable to discuss the schedule for implementing final rules for swaps and security-based swaps under Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. Dr. Brown-Hruska is a former Commissioner and former Acting Chairman of the CFTC. For this roundtable, she was joined by other securities and derivatives practitioners and experts who have advised the SEC and CFTC staffs regarding the implementation of the clearing mandates, the process for clearing requirement determination, the phasing-in of clearing requirements by asset class or market participant, and the importance of addressing international harmonization of clearing mandates.
