Experts from NERA's Environment Group participated in a modeling workshop that focused on the impacts recent regulatory changes have had on the US electricity sector. Senior Vice President Dr. W. David Montgomery took part in a session entitled "Modeling Results of Regulations," which examined critical issues in a suite of regulations mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Dr. Montgomery presented results of a study prepared by NERA on the energy and economic impacts of two major air emissions regulations using NERA's NewERA model. Senior Vice President and Environment Group Co-Head Dr. David Harrison participated in a session on "Impending Non-Air Regulations." Dr. Harrison discussed EPA regulations under Section 316(b) of the Clean Water Act, including the use of benefit-cost analysis to evaluate alternatives and the importance of site-specific rather than national requirements.
