Dr. Alan Cox, Senior Vice President and Chair of NERA's Intellectual Property Practice, was invited to serve as Keynote Speaker at a global symposium held at the Taiwan National University College of Law in Taipei, Taiwan on 24 October 2014. Dr. Cox spoke on the topic of "Determining Patent Damages: Lessons and Challenges from the US"  and also served as a panelist in a session entitled "Damage Calculation of Patent Infringement in Taiwan: Observations on Development in Recent Years."

This annual symposium was organized by the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office and Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs in conjunction with the Taiwan Intellectual Property Training Academy. Attendees primarily included leaders of the Taiwan Intellectual Property Organization, Taiwan Intellectual Property Court judges, high-level in-house legal counsel from Taiwan-based companies, and patent practitioners in Taiwan.
