NERA Economic Consulting and its parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies, are co-sponsoring a series of lectures on current economic events organized by The George Washington University's Department of Economics. The sponsorship of the lecture series showcases Marsh & McLennan Companies and NERA's commitment to highlighting the importance and impact of economics in business and regulatory environments.

This event, held in Washington, DC on 7 April 2014, featured a lecture by Sandra Pianalto, who put a spotlight on the importance of education and innovation in spurring long-term economic growth. As president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Ms. Pianalto has both national and local leadership responsibilities. She participates in the formulation of US monetary policy, and she oversees 950 employees in Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh who conduct economic research, supervise financial institutions, and provide payment services to commercial banks and the US government.
