Competition policy is evolving quickly in the Asia-Pacific region. The Australian government conducted the first comprehensive review of Australia’s competition laws and policies in more than 20 years. The Competition Policy Review aims to reinvigorate Australia’s competition policy and to ensure that competition laws are appropriate; the Final Report was released in March 2015. In addition, 2015 is the target date for all ASEAN Member States to introduce a competition policy. To address these timely issues, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission hosted the International Competition Network Annual Meeting on 28 April-1 May in Sydney, Australia. NERA Director James Mellsop attended the conference at the invitation of the Commerce Commission as a “non-governmental adviser.”
