The National Institute on US-Canadian Securities Litigation will be the first conference of its kind to bring together leading US and Canadian securities litigators and regulators to discuss cutting-edge issues in securities litigation. The purpose of the conference will be to foster (i) the cross-border sharing of ideas and (ii) a comparison of legal trends and litigation strategies in Canada and the United States in areas such as securities class actions, shareholder activism, securities regulatory and criminal enforcement, merger and acquisition litigation as well as broker-dealer litigation.

As part of this one-day event, NERA Senior Vice President and Co-Chair of NERA’s White Collar, Investigations and Enforcement Practice, Dr. Vinita Juneja will speak on the “Securities Class Action Update—Trends in the US and Canada” panel during the morning session. Dr. Juneja will join leading litigators as the panel discusses critical issues and trends related to filings and certification hearings; developments in global class actions; the effect of recent US and Canadian Supreme Court class action decisions; and, lessons to be learned from recent cases.

Dr. Juneja will present data on filings and settlements of Canadian and US matters and also discuss how the presentation of economic evidence is affected by recent decisions and cases, relying on her experience in Canadian, US and cross-border matters.
