On 9 November, Associate Director Dr. Ling Ling (Xiaoling) Ang will present her paper “Regulations, Community Bank and Credit Union Exits, and Access to Mortgage Credit” at the 13th Annual Conference on Empirical Legal Studies hosted by the University of Michigan Law School. She and co-author Dr. Alexandrov will discuss their analysis of a US subprime mortgage regulation on the availability of mortgage credit. Their findings suggest that the regulation had no generalized impact on credit availability, despite hundreds of institutions of subprime mortgages exiting the market, as their customers were able to switch to similar loans offered by competitors.
