NERA Principal Dominik Huebler gave a talk entitled “German and Other European Offshore Wind Auctions: What to Learn and Where Next?” at the most recent installment of Strommarkttreffen (Energy Markets Meeting) in Berlin on 4 May.

Strommarkttreffen brings together participants from industry, academia, and government to discuss hot topics in the energy industry.

This month’s meeting focused on renewables auctions and Mr. Huebler’s talk focused specifically on recent offshore wind auction results in Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. He discussed whether the increase in “zero-subsidy bids” means zero-subsidy can be considered the “new normal.” He also touched on how possible changes to the regulatory framework should be considered to ensure an appropriate balance between low prices and ensuring projects are being delivered.
