On 20 March, NERA Director Kurt G. Strunk provided perspective on the evolution of the US regulatory regime for gas at the Florence School of Regulation’s Specialised Training on the Regulation of Gas Markets. The week-long training course covered the basic principles of gas regulation, as well as the most topical issues in Europe and worldwide. Following the overview and international outlook, the second part of the week was devoted to market regulation in the EU, focusing specifically on the implementation status of the EU network codes and guidelines at a national level. Mr. Strunk’s presentation during the latter part of the course identified challenges facing the European gas market and detailed current topics in US regulation following restructuring.
