The Economic Repercussions of Title II Reclassification

06 February 2015

Recent industry developments indicate that soon Internet services will be reclassified under Title II of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended most recently in the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

There is strong evidence that this reclassification will have significant economic repercussions—distorting competition, thwarting innovation, and reducing consumer welfare in the United States. NERA Economic Consulting Senior Vice Presidents Dr. Christian Dippon and Dr. Jeffrey Eisenach have been at the forefront in analyzing the economic impact that this change will have on a robust Internet ecosystem. They have applied rigorous economic analyses to litigation, and as advice to governments, broadband and mobile carriers, as well as other industry groups.

Dr. Dippon and Dr. Eisenach have published extensively on the economic repercussions of net neutrality and Title II reclassification. We hope that you will find their thought leadership on these issues beneficial given the impact of this recent industry development.
