NERA President Dr. Lawrence Wu and Leading Antitrust Attorney Michele Floyd Author New Book on Antitrust Class Certification

02 February 2016

2 February 2016/New York—NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, announced the publication of a new book on antitrust class actions, co-authored by NERA President Dr. Lawrence Wu with Michele Floyd, a partner in the San Francisco office of Sacks Ricketts & Case LLP. The book, “The Revolution in the Law and Economics of Antitrust Class Certification,” examines recent changes in the way courts are reviewing and deciding antitrust class actions and the resulting impact on the ways such cases are litigated today.

“There is simply no other book on the market that treats the key economic and legal issues of class certification with the depth and breadth of analysis that Floyd and Wu bring to the reader here,” said Erik Koons, a Partner in the Washington, DC office of Baker Botts.

The authors note that courts are demanding more rigorous evidence from both plaintiffs and defendants at the class certification stage—evidence that historically might not have been considered until the merits phase of the litigation. The book highlights the powerful role of economics in bringing statistical evidence and insights to the courtroom, and the landmark cases that have shaped the way courts now think about class certification.

The book is available on Amazon.com.
