Georgios Effraimidis, PhD

Prior to joining NERA, Dr. Effraimidis was part of Qualcomm’s corporate litigation department, where he worked on global IP and antitrust disputes and investigations related to the company’s patent licensing and modem chipset businesses. He led several of Qualcomm’s advocacy efforts, including those pertaining to FRAND licensing, standards setting, the intersection of antitrust and innovation, competition policy, patent reexamination proceedings, and patent subject matter eligibility. Dr. Effraimidis was also a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Center on Biodemography and Population Health and Department of Economics at the University of Southern California, where he taught PhD-level classes for economists. He has been awarded a Thomas Edison Innovation Fellowship by the Center for Protection of Intellectual Property & Innovation Policy at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University.

He frequently writes on topics involving innovation economics, intellectual property, and antitrust. He also speaks at expert and academic conferences at institutions such as Northwestern University, George Mason University, and the University of Southern California.
