NERA Senior Vice President Dr. Jon Wainwright was invited by the National Education Association (NEA) to participate in an invitation-only roundtable of civil rights litigators, experts in civil rights law and demographic trends, and community leaders to evaluate proposed changes to the collection of race and ethnicity data in the 2020 Census. The roundtable, which took place in Washington, DC on 31 July 2014, explored the significant implications that the proposed changes could have for the NEA's civil rights work and the implementation and enforcement of civil rights laws.
