NERA will have a strong presence at the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Antitrust 2018 Spring Meeting, with President Dr. Lawrence Wu, Managing Directors Dr. Christine Siegwarth Meyer, and Dr. Lauren Stiroh, speaking throughout the conference. The Spring Meeting will take place between 11-13 April in Washington, DC.

In “Mergers: Defining and Litigating Relevant Markets,” Dr. Meyer and her fellow panelists will discuss best practices for defining relevant geographic and product markets, particularly relating to innovation-intensive industries where markets can be hard to define. The panel is jointly presented by the Civil Practice & Procedure, Federal Civil Enforcement, and Mergers & Acquisitions Committees.

The Trade, Sports & Professional Associations Committee will present “College Sports—Beyond Pay,” at which Dr. Lauren Stiroh will speak on the O’Bannon and Jenkins cases and discuss the burgeoning role of antitrust in college sports.

Dr. Wu will participate in a mock trial presented by the Intellectual Property and Trial Practice Committees. He will give a sample expert testimony, be cross-examined, and then discuss the trial and its outcome after the closing arguments.
