Hosted By: Independent Power Producers of New York (IPPNY)
NERA Consultant Max Luke will speak on the panel titled “Achieving New York’s ‘Green New Deal’ and Deep Decarbonization of the Electric Sector” at the 33rd IPPNY Annual Spring Conference. Mr. Luke will review the Green New Deal proposals in Congress and New York. The New York proposal would require that 70% of electricity come from renewables by the year 2030 and that the power sector be 100% carbon-neutral by 2040. The panel will discuss the practicality of the New York Green New Deal and the kinds of generation and technology that would be needed to back the variability of renewables to maintain reliability. The panel will also consider experiences related to California’s plan to meet 50% of electricity demand by renewables by 2030.
