The ANZMEX Energy Debate Series – 14th Edition

Mexico City
25 June 2019
Hosted By: Australia, New Zealand & Mexico Business Council (ANZMEX)

NERA Associate Director Veronica Irastorza will participate in the 14th edition of the ANZMEX Energy Debate Series focusing on natural gas and electricity in the Mexican economy. Natural gas remains a low-cost fuel in North America, and electricity produced from natural gas is available at low costs with relatively low carbon emissions. While Mexico is committed to natural gas, it has largely chosen to import its gas supply from the USA and declined to explore shale gas resources. Mexico faces challenges involving an increase in demand for affordable electricity driven by industrial entities, commercial corporations, and emerging generations. The panelists will address the ever-present question: “Who wins and why?”
