The Clean Countdown to 2035: Avoiding Catastrophic Climate Impacts

01 March 2021
Hosted By: Richard & Rhoda Goldman School of Public Policy (GSPP)

In an event for GSPP students, alumni, and staff, NERA Associate Director and GSPP Alumni Board Member Veronica Irastorza will discuss a recent report from the Goldman School showing how the US can reach 90% clean electricity by 2035 without increasing consumer bills.

The Center for Environmental Public Policy (CEPP) released “The 2035 Report: Plummeting Solar, Wind, and Battery Costs Can Accelerate Our Clean Electricity Future in June 2020.” This is the first national report to reflect how rapidly declining renewable energy and storage prices enable the US to deeply decarbonize the electric power sector. It shows that, with the right policies, the US can avoid building new fossil fuel power plants and increase energy sector jobs by over half a million each year.
