Virtual
19 May 2022
Hosted By: New Zealand Planning Institute

The Commerce Commission recently published its supermarkets inquiry final report. The report includes recommendations that planning instruments and planning law consider the “benefits of increased competition” for development.

On 19 May at 12:00 pm NZST, Associate Director Kevin Counsell, along with the New Zealand Planning Institute and Resource Management Law Association (Wellington-based branches), will present an hour-long webinar examining the important role competition plays in planning and the recommendations found in the Commerce Commission’s supermarkets inquiry report.

The webinar will:

  • Provide a primer on the concept of competition;
  • Explain the underlying principles of competition and how to understand its benefits; and
  • Summarise the Commerce Commission’s recommendations for the planning system.
