NERA Expert Michael Baye Part of Digonex Team Creating the First Fully Automated Dynamic Pricing System for the Event Ticketing Industry
New York -- NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, collaborated with Digonex Technologies, Inc. last year to develop the Sports & Entertainment Analytical Ticketing System (SEATS), the first fully automated dynamic pricing system for event ticketing. Dr. Michael Baye, a NERA Special Consultant and Bert Elwert Professor of Business Economics & Public Policy at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, led the NERA team that assisted in creating SEATS. Dr. Baye previously collaborated with Digonex to develop a dynamic pricing system for digital music.
SEATS allows event promoters to calculate the best price for tickets based on dozens of economic and behavioral parameters, ranging from seat quality to number of performances to overall sales patterns. NERA's Dr. Baye worked with Digonex's business and computer development team, to develop SEATS.
"By incorporating sophisticated dynamic pricing models, SEATS allows Digonex to give its customers more pricing flexibility and to increase ticket sales and optimize profitability," said Dr. Baye.
"We assembled a team of experts, including Dr. Baye, who are known for their experience in their respective fields related to event ticketing, economics, programming and tour management to create an automated system that works with our patented dynamic pricing," said Jan Eglen, PhD, CEO for Digonex. "The result is SEATS, which provides a fair-to-all solution for artists, promoters, ticket sellers and consumers."
Digonex began providing price updates to the Cleveland Cavaliers following the All-Star break, making them the first sports franchise to utilize SEATS dynamic, fan-based ticket pricing structure for individual games.
