NERA Economic Consulting Announces Senior-Level Promotions 2023

New York, NY—NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, is pleased to announce Dr. Cristián Hernández, Dr. Stephanie Child, and Ivelina Velikova have been promoted to Director. In addition, Emilie Feyler, Dr. Veronica Postal, and Dr. Yuyao Wang have been promoted to Senior Consultant. Leoine Janisch, Rafael Sambeat, Daniel Sullivan, and James Thomas are now Consultants.

Directors:

Dr. Stephanie Child specializes in survey research and methodology, statistical sampling, and data analysis. Dr. Child has worked on matters involving intellectual property disputes, with specific expertise in survey development and analyses related to trademarks, patents, and false advertising. This includes surveys to establish likelihood of confusion, secondary meaning, genericness, and dilution. Dr. Child has also worked on class action and antitrust matters.

Dr. Cristián Hernández advises clients in industries including finance, rail, construction, and tech during merger reviews and in allegations of anticompetitive behavior. Dr. Hernández specializes in analysis of large data sets, natural experiments, merger simulations, and econometric modelling. His article “Algorithmic Pricing in Horizontal Merger Review: An Initial Assessment” won the Concurrences Readers Choice Award in 2023.

Ivelina Velikova is an expert at managing projects involving the analysis of economic issues in securities litigation. Ms. Velikova has consulted on hundreds of securities class actions, including examining materiality, loss causation, and liability and estimating inflation, damages, and settlements. Her broad industry expertise includes closed-end funds, banking, asset management, insurance and reinsurance, oil and gas, broadband networking, and mortgage servicing. 

Senior Consultants:

Emilie Feyler specializes in antitrust analysis for litigation and merger and acquisition matters in the digital, telecom, heath care, and consumer industries. She also provides economic analysis in litigation involving liability, damages, and class certification, particularly those involving allegations of conspiracy, price-fixing, market power abuse, and breach of contract.

Dr. Veronica Postal examines the competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions and evaluates liability and damages in antitrust litigation cases involving price fixing, class certification, and consumer pricing. She has worked in industries including health insurance, airlines, and automotive.

Dr. Yuyao Wang assists clients on litigation and advisory issues spanning asset valuation, breaches of contract, liability forecasts, corporate governance, intellectual property, ERISA class actions, and securities class actions. Her recent work has also involved insurance disputes related to COVID-19.
