NERA Consultant Dr. C.-Philipp Heller co-authored an article titled “Strategic Schools under the Boston Mechanism Revisited,” published in the peer-reviewed journal Social Choice and Welfare. The article considers the incentives of schools to misreport their preferences over students in a popular type of method to allocate students to schools in many cities around the world. Contrary to the previous literature, the article finds that schools have incentives to misreport their preferences. The results can explain some of the observed behavior of schools in some cities.

This article was published in Volume 48 of the Social Choice and Welfare journal, released in March 2017.
