FAQs

1. How do candidates apply?

Candidates can view and apply for positions by clicking the See Open Roles button above, which will direct you to our jobs board. Applicants are required to submit their CV, cover letter, and transcripts. Depending on the position, some candidates may be required to submit a writing sample.

2. When can I expect to hear back about my application?

We review applications as they come in. If your background and experience align with our objectives, you will be contacted directly regarding next steps.

3. Does NERA accept applications at any time?

Experienced applicants are encouraged to apply at any time. For junior applicants, while there is a seasonal rhythm to our hiring (peaking each fall), we often have open positions and are constantly on the lookout for talented candidates.

4. What can I expect during the interview process?

Our interview process is aimed at getting to know you, learning about your analytic capabilities, and introducing you to our colleagues and work. You should expect questions about your background and work experiences, as well as an opportunity to ask questions. You may be asked to complete a case study to demonstrate your problem-solving skills. Experienced applicants may also present job market papers or economic publications.

5. Does NERA have hybrid work arrangements?

NERA has implemented a hybrid model that gives us the best of both worlds—the benefits of working remotely and the benefits of being together in the office. Hybrid schedules vary by group and are set by group directors. Colleagues are welcome in the office every day if that is their preference.

6. Does NERA have a summer internship program or offer off-cycle internships?

Yes, we offer summer internships to final-year undergraduate candidates as well as current master’s and PhD students. Many of our interns are offered full-time positions and return to the firm.

7. Does NERA participate in recruiting events?
