In well over 100 securities class actions, clients have sought out Lucy Allen’s expertise in assessing issues related to market efficiency, price impact, class conflicts, materiality, loss causation, and damages involving stocks and bonds. As a testifying expert, including on numerous high-profile cases, she has assisted clients in obtaining favorable results over many years. In the influential Halliburton case, relying on Ms. Allen’s analysis, the court denied class certification as to five of the six alleged corrective disclosures (Halliburton Co., et al v. Erica P. John Fund, Inc.). In the class certification stage of a recent case, after Ms. Allen filed her expert report showing no price impact from the alleged misrepresentations, plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their case (In Samir Ali Cherif Benouis v. Match Group, Inc., et al.). In another recent case, consistent with Ms. Allen’s analysis and testimony, the court shortened the class period by more than half and denied class certification as to the majority of the alleged corrective disclosures (In re Apache Corp. Securities Litigation). Class certification was denied in the McDermott Section 14(a) case after an evidentiary hearing in which Ms. Allen testified (Miriam Edwards, et al. v. McDermott International Inc., et al.).
