Clara Segurola is a Senior Consultant in NERA’s International Arbitration Practice. She is a financial economist with more than 12 years of professional experience. She provides analysis and expert testimony on damages, valuation, and economic issues arising in international commercial and investor–state disputes.

Ms Segurola’s work in litigation and international arbitration includes assessment and quantification of damages (including loss of profits, consequential losses and loss of business opportunities), business valuation, and valuation of real assets in the context of political intervention. She has also provided profitability assessments and economic analyses of the regulatory framework in the context of disputes in regulated sectors (e.g., utilities, infrastructure and renewables).

Ms Segurola’s work has covered a broad range of industries (i.e., utilities, energy, transport, infrastructure, financial services, consumer goods, IT services, manufacturing and distribution) across Western and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. She has worked on matters before the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), on ad hoc arbitrations under UNCITRAL Rules, and before the Commercial Court of England and Wales and Spanish commercial courts, and she has provided oral testimony (both direct testimony and in cross-examination).

She has been recognized by Who’s Who Legal Arbitration for her expert handling of economic and financial analyses in commercial disputes and she is described by clients and peers as “an extremely bright, personable and smart individual”.

Ms Segurola holds a master’s degree in economics and finance from the Spanish Center of Monetary and Financial Studies (CEMFI), a master’s in banking and finance from the French University of Nantes and is fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Prior to joining NERA, Ms Segurola worked as a financial analyst, first assessing corporate credit risk for a major oil company and later analyzing the financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions for an online financial information provider.
