Dick Oosthuizen, PhD

Dr. Oosthuizen provides economic consulting services in connection to securities class actions, breaches of contract, valuation disputes about financial assets, and business interruption insurance disputes related to COVID-19. He has considerable expertise in analyses in which confounding factors complicate the measurement of damages and/or lost profits. In addition to litigation and advisory projects, Dr. Oosthuizen provided an analysis on the economic impact of a fragmented financial system for the World Economic Forum’s Navigating Global Financial System Fragmentation initiative.

During his PhD, Dr. Oosthuizen specialized in housing economics, computational economics, and financial economics. Part of his dissertation has been published in the Journal of Financial Stability. Prior to joining NERA, he worked as a research analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, primarily analyzing data relating to mortgage-backed securities.
